Dan Reynolds - Sax
In 1992 Dan Reynolds was an alto saxophonist in the “Walt Disney World All-American College Jazz Band” in Orlando, Florida. During this tenure he performed and attended clinics with jazz artists such as Tom Scott, Arturo Sandoval, Pete Christlieb and Maynard Ferguson. In 1993 he performed for various shows in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Virginia. From 1993 to 2002 he served as alto and tenor saxophonist, arranger and composer with “Steve Smith and The Nakeds” performing with such popular artists as Clarence Clemons (saxophonist of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band), Nils Lofgren (guitarist of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band), John Cafferty and Michael Antunes (John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band), Al Cooper (Blood, Sweat and Tears) and Gary U.S. Bonds. “The Nakeds” performed throughout the United States and parts of Canada including a performance for President Bill Clinton at his Health Care Rally in 1994. From 2002 to 2008 Dan could be seen performing at various clubs and private functions in the band “In The Groove.” During this period he completed graduate studies at “The University of Rhode Island” for saxophone performance. Most recently Dan has performed with several bands including “Image,” “Wayz and Means,” “The Urge,” “Fed Up,” “Jorge Ferreira,” “Take 2,” “The Rockin’ Soul Horns,” and of course “Down City Band.”
Dave Wilson - Bass
Dave has been playing bass since the age of 10. He was hooked on the instrument after hearing Verdine White of Earth, Wind and Fire. That particular feel and groove shaped his approach for years to come. In addition to Verdine, David is also heavily influenced by Anthony Jackson, Abe Laboriel, and Maurice Fitzgerald. Dave spent several years playing bass on the Boston music scene for multiple singers and musicians in a variety of different genres. While in Boston playing for New Day, David went on a tour of the southern states. Upon moving to Rhode Island, David played for Darryl Isaacs and later for Michelle for many years. David still considers himself a student of music.
Paul Duquette - Keys
Paul ‘Captain Fingers’ Duquette is a Berklee College of Music graduate and has been an in-demand working musician for more than 20 years. His styles range from jazz and classical to oldies, funk, and blues. Paul is an integral part of Down City as he can not only perform ceremonial music, but is also available for cocktail hours and more. His ability to construct sounds without losing the feeling of the music is an art form in and of itself. Paul has played with some amazing local acts including Spellbound, Wizdom, Gina Welsey, Sweet P Blues featuring Paul Williams, and Dream Catcher. Outside of the funk/soul/rock scene Paul teaches private piano lessons and is the organist at St. Paul’s Cathedral every Sunday.
Jeff Shea - Guitar
Jeff Shea has performed with numerous bands at both the national and local levels for over 35 years. He has played with many local groups including "Little Brother," "The Big Johnsons," "The Bartenders," "The Groovemasters," "Max Damian," "Brass Attack," "The Kidds," "Bobby Nelson","Tish Adams," "Kim Trusty," "The Swinging Saxes," "Shaden," "Shawn Reilly" , "In The Groove," "Image," "The Ten Rod Ramblers", "The Rockin Soul Horns","Take 2"and Wayz and Means. On the national scene, Jeff has performed with "Little Anthony," "The Marvelettes," "The Coasters,"and "The Drifters". Jeff formally studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music where he received a Bachelor of Arts in music.
Bob Maddalena - Drums
Bob has worked the club scene, college circuits and national events for over 35 years. Formally a member of the legendary rock band Strutt, also new England's premier oldies band Reminisce,and Orchestra Romanza,Bob has had the pleasure of working with and opening for national acts such as Aerosmith,Loverboy,The Temptations, Little Richard,and Frankie Valli. Known for his diverse style,Bob supplies the solid backbeat and versatility required for the Downcity Band.
Maceo Eberhart - Vocals
Maceo started out singing as a Soloist singing at weddings, fundraisers and live events, but it was not until he heard Otis Redding that he realized that he wanted to sing professionally. In 2012 Maceo became the lead vocalist for the band The Ghost Tones. His voice, friendly stage presence and personality, along with his on stage energy, became very popular with fans. Maceo's musical influences are Otis Redding, The Isley brothers and “War” just to name a few.
Jessica Tracy - Vocals
Jess started singing at the age of four at St. Marks Church in Riverside, RI. At age 6 her father taught her to play the recorder, keyboard, and sing in their family bluegrass band. Her performance career began in choirs, holiday pageants, musicals, and nursing homes until she was 19. Jessica has been singing in the professional music circuit for the past four years; you'll love Jessicas infectious energy.
Don Chilton - Trumpet
Don Chilton is a retired Navy Musician with a distinguished 26-year career traveling worldwide to over 42 countries as a trumpeter, vocalist and bandleader. Don is currently the band director and music teacher at Newport Public Schools. He has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival and with many great musicians including The Temptations, Brooke Shields, Mike Mossman, Greg Abate, and many more. Don proudly continues to serve his nation as a bugler with the RI Military Funeral Honors.
